Appalachian Adolescent Health Education Project (AAHEP): Second-Year Evaluation Report.
Achilles, Charles M.; And Others
This report evaluates the second year of the Appalachian Adolescent Health Education Project (AAHEP), a program designed to reduce adolescent pregnancy rates and provide care for pregnant teenagers in East Tennessee. Changes in the program, including the reduction in target area from 15 counties to 3 primary counties and 6 target high schools, are explained. Evaluation results are presented in the areas of general results and summary; care component; prevention component; management information; relationship to baseline state and other data; relationship to hypotheses for 1984-85; and conclusions and recommendations. Eleven tables, 11 figures, and 3 appendices are given to illustrate and explain the results and conclusions and to provide comparative data. The report concludes that the AAHEP has met its goals, citing positive trends in the AAHEP service area. It recommends that project personnel focus on dissemination of project results, improve and expand their working relationships with more permanent groups and agencies serving the area, and provide family life information to schools in the service area.
