Part 2, "Global Imperatives for Literacy and Learning in English," contains the following reports: "Language, Politics, and Public Affairs," by John Dixon; "Language and Schooling," by Elody Rathgen and Fred Johnson; "Language and the New Media," by David England; "Language, Literature, and Human Values," by Garth Boomer; and "Language and Multicultural Education," by Yetta Goodman.
