The articles in this volume were written by teachers with an average of 15 years experience teaching writing from the primary grades through college. Each article is the fruition of one to three years work with students and teachers after a summer institute. The authors of the articles discuss such topics as (1) personal experiences as a teacher and writer; (2) an automotive analogy for the writing process--prewriting, drafting, editing, and publishing; (3) prewriting strategies to help students think, feel, and observe; (4) teaching paragraph focus and development; (5) revision as opposed to recopying; (6) teaching awareness of style; (7) how young children can identify with their favorite authors and publish; (8) activities for writing in math classes; (9) schoolwide writing assessment; and (10) resources for teachers.
