Concerned with protecting the First Amendment rights of high school and college journalists, this focused journal issue analyzes libel law and the question of liability in the student press. Covering such broad topics as ethics, courts, censorship, administration, student government, and libel, the journal articles (1) question journalism as a profession, (2) reexamine court decisions concerning the censorship of school newspaper articles and other school journalism related matters, (3) discuss administrative concerns such as publications policies and the use of censorship issues as a cause for dismissal, (4) relate one school's efforts to change the funding and control of the campus newspaper, (5) report on school libel issues, (6) raise the question of payment in liability cases, and (7) examine the elements of libel.
