Visual Arts Sequenced Curriculum Guide, Grades 1-6.
Arizona State Dept. of Education, Phoenix.
A series of charts depicts a sequenced curriculum for elementary visual arts education in Arizona. Following an open letter to elementary classroom teachers and an overview of the art education requirements in Arizona schools, charts are presented for grades 1-2, 3-4, and 5-6. Each chart is subdivided into sections on general art learning objectives and learning objectives derived from art elements and principles. Definitions of creative art expression, aesthetic assessment, and art in cultural heritage are provided, followed by guidelines for teaching these areas under the categories of art elements, media, techniques, observation, imagination, perception, line, shape, value, color, texture, mass, space, rhythm, balance, and contrast. A glossary concludes the publication. (LP)
