Telecommunications Technologies in the Home: Abstracts of the Literature Search. Volume II.
LeRoy, Judith M.; LeRoy, David J.
A companion publication to Telecommunications Technologies in the Home: An Introduction and Evaluative Review of the Literature with a Special Emphasis on the Instructional Use of the Technologies (Volume I), this report (Volume II) describes the information sources used to collect information for that literature review and presents abstracts of the relevant reports found. The purpose of the literature search was to locate recent articles, monographs, and unpublished studies in the area of telecommunications, technologies, and the home. Primary emphasis was on newer studies and especially unpublished studies. In most instances, the search ranged from 1970 to May 1983; however, for the periodical literature, the search was limited to the last three years. Most of the commercial sources were utilized in this review, especially the omnibus database, the DIALOG Information Service. The key concepts of the search were: instruction, education, learning, study, home, computer, microcomputer, personal computer, television, cable television, telecommunications, and technology. Sources consulted for the literature search included: National Technical Information Service (NTIS), Trade and Industry Index, Magazine Index, Social Scisearch, Microcomputer Index Database, Sociological Abstracts, ERIC Database, and Comprehensive Dissertation Abstracts.
