Development of Invitational Teaching Survey.

The development of the Invitational Teaching Survey (ITS) which measures personally and professionally inviting teacher practices within the framework of invitational education was discussed. The development included initial item identification, validity evidence based on judgments, item selection based on judgments, validity evidence from a factor analysis study, final item selection and revisions, reliability, correlation of subscores, and normative data. Research studies using the ITS are being conducted in three areas of higher education. The studies relate professionally and personally inviting teacher practices to student affective outcome measures. (DWH)
