Slayton, Ann
In this handbook, single parents will find a description of the basic steps to follow in child support enforcement and a discussion of the enforcement methods that get the best results. Specifically, section I explains how to apply for child support enforcement services and tells what they cost. Section II discusses the necessity for locating the absent parent. Sections III and IV concern, respectively, the establishment of paternity and the support order. Section V focuses on enforcing the support order, and section VI addresses the issue of interstate cooperation in obtaining and enforcing support payments. Section VII concludes by offering general suggestions to single parents utilizing the child support enforcement system. Appendices provide a glossary of child support enforcement terms, addresses and telephone numbers of regional offices of the Office of Child Support Enforcement and state child support enforcement offices, and record-keeping forms.
