Information about postsecondary education in Alaska is presented in this volume in support of the first statewide master plan for postsecondary education. Appendix A provides selected data on 19 postsecondary institutions in the state, including the 3 campuses of the University of Alaska, 10 community colleges, the Rural Education program, 3 private institutions, and 2 vocational-technical centers. Actual and projected enrollment statistics, and information on degrees and certificates offered and awarded are included. Appendix B looks at the 1980 Alaskan population by race. Appendix C offers a report on postsecondary education in rural Alaska. Appendix D presents a Florida statute relating to a common course number system for community colleges and the state university system. Appendix E contains the University of Alaska institutional mission statements. Appendix F looks at financial strategies for obtaining revenue for capital improvements. Appendix G offers sample legislation for establishing a competitive non-need-based scholarship program for Alaska. Appendix H presents language for an act establishing the Pacific Rim Fellowship Program.
