Texas State Library, Austin. Dept. of Library Development.
The six chapters of the Texas Library Systems Act are presented in this document together with revised standards for accreditation of system components adopted by the Texas State Library and Archives Commission on February 28, 1985. The Library Systems Act covers: (1) General Provisions, including definitions; (2) State Library System, including its establishment, advisory board, and plan of service; (3) Major Resource System and Regional Library System, including authority for their establishment, system membership, operations and management, withdrawal from a system, advisory councils, and regional library systems; (4) Constituents of Major Resource Systems and Regional Library Systems, including major resource centers, area libraries, and community libraries; (5) State Grants-in-Aid to Libraries, including their establishment, rules and regulations, and administration; and (6) Other Provisions, including severability. A summary of criteria for membership in the Texas Library System precedes sections on Standards for Accreditation of a Major Resource System of Libraries in the Texas Library System and Minimum Standards for Accreditation of Public Libraries in the State Library System, on various types of grants, and on the system advisory council.
