Factors that are likely to affect higher education in New Jersey and the nation are identified. Also included are survey data developed by the Eagleton Institute of Rutgers University regarding New Jerseyans' perceptions of the state's government, environment, and economy. The educational data cover: educational attainment of the state's population, the enrollment characteristics of students at New Jersey colleges and universities, actual and projected public high school graduates in the state for the years 1980 to 1995; full-time, first-time freshmen by race, 1977-1983; state appropriations for higher education, fiscal years (FY) 1978-1985; constant dollar state appropriations for the United States, New Jersey, and selected states, FY 1974 to FY 1984; and curriculum grants initiatives.
