Attribution Theory and Research: A Selected and Annotated Bibliography.
Wilcox, Nancy S.
This bibliography provides an overview and introduction to attribution theory with an emphasis on its role in clinical work. Articles are listed alphabetically by author in four sections: (1) an introduction to attribution theory, 11 entries; (2) attribution and the helping relationship, 9 entries; (3) attribution therapies and psychopathology, 4 entries; and (4) attribution and information-processing, 11 entries. For all empirical studies, a description of the objective, participants, method, and major findings is provided. Theoretical articles and chapters are discussed in terms of their objectives and overall conditions. All annotations contain general comments which highlight the importance of attribution in psychotherapy. This bibliography is intended to be of use to those who are novices in the area as well as to researchers engaged in the investigation of attribution principles. (Author/NRB)
