Nutrition Education: Choose Well, Be Well. A Curriculum Guide for Junior High School.

This curriculum guide for junior high school students contains 17 information acquisition lessons, 5 values awareness lessons, and 6 open-ended discussion lessons. Some lessons contain activities that extend over several days; other lessons contain one specific activity. The nutrition education goals are directed toward the attainment of nutrition subject matter, organized into five topics, which serve as a foundation for nutrition instruction, curriculum development, and evaluation. The topics included the following categories: (1) food choices as related to the attainment of optimal health; (2) factors influencing food choices (lifestyles, peers, and families); (3) food-related careers--needs, roles, responsibilities, and educational requirements; (4) consumer competencies; and (5) food handling.
