Nutrition Education: Choose Well, Be Well. A Curriculum Guide for High School.

This curriculum guide for high school students contains 20 information acquisition lessons, 6 values awareness lessons, and 5 open-ended discussion lessons. Some lessons contain activities that extend over several days; other lessons contain one specific activity. The nutrition education goals are directed toward the attainment of nutrition subject matter, which is organized into five topics. The identified topics serve as a foundation for nutrition instruction, curriculum development, and evaluation. The topics include the following categories: (1) food choices as related to the attainment of optimal health; (2) factors influencing food choices, e.g., lifestyles, peers, and families; (3) food-related careers--needs, roles, responsibilities, and educational requirements; (4) consumer competencies; and (5) food handling.
