Prepared by representatives of industry and the educational community, the papers in this collection address issues of interest in the field of technical communication. Specific topics discussed are as follows: (1) the Resource Materials Project of the Council for Programs in Technical and Scientific Communication (CPTSC), (2) the relationship between the CPTSC and the Society for Technical Communication (STC), (3) the possible certification of technical communicators by the STC, (4) the role of the humanist in technical communication at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, (5) the criteria for appointment and promotion of teachers of technical communication at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, (6) Colorado State University's program to teach the handicapped to become technical and scientific translators, (7) the University of Michigan's internship program in technical communications, (8) technical advertising, (9) graduate programs in biomedical communication at the University of Nebraska's Medical Center, and (10) technical communication program development at Texas A&M University.
