Geography of Maryland: An Instructional Unit for the Eighth Grade Social Studies Course "Maryland Studies."
Hollis, James G., Jr.; And Others
An eighth grade social studies unit on Maryland geography contains three sections of materials. In the first section, a two-column chart matches grade-level objectives related to Maryland history and geography to specific activities discussed in the second section. A content outline is divided into sections on Maryland as part of the United States and the world, geography of Maryland, bodies of water, counties and cities, climate, population, and resources and land use. The second section contains activities to implement this unit. Activities focus on maps, scrapbooks, bulletin boards, a collage, readings, guest speakers, puzzles, and projects. Each activity is presented in a chart which shows title, grade level objectives, vocabulary, skill objectives, content, activity description, materials needed, and adaptation procedures for other levels. Each chart is followed by student instructions and handouts. The final section is a seven-entry bibliography. (LP)
