The purpose of this brochure is to help parents and caregivers guide children's behavior in a more effective and pleasant manner. Twenty principles of child management are listed and explained. Examples illustrate how each principle should be applied. These principles include general suggestions for creating family rules and guidance on how to enforce rules. Many suggestions for positive reinforcement are also given; these stress ways of improving parent-child communication and the child's self-concept. Additional suggestions are given for dealing with children under the age of 3. (CB)
