Excellence in Parenthood/Child Development Education.

Descriptions are provided of the six parenthood education and child development programs selected as outstanding by the American Vocational Association and the W. K. Kellogg Foundation. These programs identified as models for adoption or adaptation nationwide are Akron Family Life Education, Akron, Ohio; Teenage Parenting Curriculum Units, Arlington, Virginia; Education for Parenthood, Edison, New Jersey; Comprehensive Parenting Education Cluster, Pewaukee, Wisconsin; Comprehensive K-12 Curriculum, Salt Lake City, Utah; and Parent-Child Programs, St. Cloud, Minnesota. Each program description includes these components: purpose of project (philosophy and rationale), project goals, objectives for learner outcomes, content, program materials, implementation (budget and funding sources), usability, staff requirements, evaluation, and name, address, and telephone number of contact person. Abstracts are provided of 72 other projects that were also nominated for consideration as outstanding programs. These abstracts include program title, target audience, description and program, evidence of effectiveness, implementation requirements, financial requirements, services available, and name, address, and telephone number of contact person. A brief description of the Excellence in Parenthood/Child Development Education Project, which identified the outstanding programs, is found at the beginning of the publication.
