Loss of Achievement Gains over Summer Vacation.
Cortez, Marion J.; Hotard, Steven
The purpose of the present study was to examine the possibility of summer regression on Chapter 1 remedial children. Students received computer-assisted instruction in mathematics and reading using programs devised by Computer Curriculum Corporation. Computer performance level data were collected in May 1984 and September 1984, and SRA scores were collected in April 1984. The mathematics data indicated that Chapter 1 remedial students lost at least one-half year of skill in mathematics over the summer vacation. Loss of skills in reading were minimal or non-existent.
