Impact of Protective Services. Final Report: Innovations in Protective Services, September 1, 1982 through August 31, 1984.
Texas State Dept. of Human Resources, Austin. Office of Programs.
One of six projects funded by P.L. 93-247 state grant money, the Impact of Protective Services Project was designed by staff members in Region 10 of the Texas Department of Human Resources. The project developed an automated system that complements two exising computer-based management systems, which are used to assist staff in case management and program administration. The final report, a process evaluation, discusses the methodology used to establish, refine, and integrate the new Impact of Protective Services System (IPSS) with the existing Protective Service Management Information System and the Contract Management Information System. Once developed, the system was expanded to include information on client outcomes for protective day care, emergency shelters, group homes, and counseling. This report describes how client assesment data were generated. To show how the assessment instruments are used, the report also describes the interaction between caseworkers and service providers who assessed each client's need for purchased services. Copies of the assessment instruments used to track client progress are appended. Because the system was only recently entirely implemented, no client outcome data are available in this report. (RH)
