Focusing on the first year of the establishment of Santa Fe Community College (SFCC), this report provides information on the mission, purposes, and governance of the college, as well as an overview of the year's major accomplishments and a look at future directions. Section I describes the establishment of SFCC in February 1983, briefly lists the first-year accomplishments, and reviews research and development efforts. Section II considers the mission and purposes of SFCC, enumerating the guiding principles for the college along with its major overall goals and first-year goals. In section III, aspects of institutional governance are addressed, including the SFCC board, administrative structure, and college councils and committees. Section IV provides information showing SFCC's major accomplishments during 1983-84 in the areas of instruction, students, community services, student services, finance, administrative services, physical plant, community relations, and accreditation. Included in this section are tables providing data on courses offered, student characteristics, program costs, and revenues and expenditures.
