The Reading Area Community College Faculty Development Project Final Report: Classification and Integration of Software/Computer Literacy.

Results are presented from a faculty development project conducted at Reading Area Community College (RACC) to examine and organize the college's software holdings; prescribe support software for mathematics courses; create a computer literacy unit for the Foundations of Mathematics course; and view and describe RACC's mathematics videotapes. The report includes a review of the rationale for the project, a description of the methodology used, a discussion of time frames, a narrative of project outcomes, and a presentation of conclusions and recommendations. The bulk of the report consists of appendices, which provide: (1) software recommendations, which include information on the recommended package and its vendor and provide a brief description of contents; (2) a proposal for microcomputer use at RACC in academic and support areas; (3) an inventory of the software and math videotapes available at RACC, which identifies and describes the software packages and videotapes and offers recommendations for their use; (4) course outlines for RACC's Foundations of Mathematics and Developmental Mathematics courses; and (5) the computer literacy unit, which includes information on the history of the computer, an overview of programming languages, and an introduction to basic programming.
