The Humanities at Triton College.

Designed to assist college personnel in assessing program needs, this report provides an overview of the humanities programs at Triton College. Part I focuses on curricular humanities programs, including discussions of the role and objectives of the School of Arts and Sciences; humanities courses offered in the school; special humanities curriculum programs including the honors program, interdisciplinary studies, telecourses, and humanities courses for career education students; and humanities course offerings in the School of Continuing Education. Part II highlights co-curricular humanities programs in the English, Fine Arts, Foreign Language, and Social Science Departments; special library programs in the humanities; the annual Salute to the Arts Program; Student Services Cultural Arts programming; and offerings by the Continuing Education Office of Special Events. Part III outlines the roles of Triton's Humanities Council, Humanities Advisory Committee, and Committee on Writing Across the Curriculum. Finally, part IV presents humanities research findings, including data on 1979-1984 enrollments in humanities programs in the School of Arts and Sciences; enrollment in humanities programs at community colleges nationwide; the revenues and expenses of instructional programs in the humanities in the School of Arts and Sciences; and trends in community college humanities education.
