Basic Education Competencies for JTPA Youth.

This collection of competency statements deals with the reading, writing, and mathematics skills that youth participating in Job Training Partnership Act (JTPA) programs should develop. Addressed in the individual sections of the volume are the following basic skill areas: gaining proficiency in elementary reading, developing the ability to read effectively, learning to communicate ideas in written English, gaining a knowledge of fundamental mathematics, and understanding customary standards of measure. The sections of the guide include subcompetency statements, each of which includes the following: the competency area addressed, a competency statement, a competency indicator, one or more benchmarks, and one or more assessment criteria.
