A Model to Facilitate the Utilization of Exemplary Vocational Education Programs and Materials for Special Needs Populations.
Wright, Calvin E.; And Others
A Vocational Education Act special project was funded to develop and implement a model to facilitate the use of exemplary vocational education programs and materials for special needs populations. The special needs populations of concern were disadvantaged, limited English proficient, handicapped, and displaced homemakers and students in nontraditional occupations. The model developed included eight major components or activities: identify exemplary resource materials, prepare a directory of exemplary resource materials to be packaged, prepare Vocational Education Resource Packages (VERPs) which contain the information and materials necessary to adopt or use a specific exemplary resource material, carry out dissemination activities, hold regional training workshops, provide support and followup services, and refine the model and its processes. Project accomplishments during 1983-1984 were: implementation of an effective project management process, model development, model implementation, and establishment of maintenance guidelines designed to help ensure project continuity. (Appendixes include resource materials information sheet, VERP tables of contents, and a list of exemplary resource materials.) (YLB)
