Melone, R. J.
Developed as part of the Gavilan Joint Community College District's (GJCCD's) 5-year accreditation review, this report focuses on a special project designed to improve articulation between and among Gavilan College, the three high school districts it serves, and San Jose State University. First, the history and characteristics of the GJCCD are presented, highlighting the college's student-centered philosophy and the social and demographic characteristics of the district. The next sections focus on the Gavilan Articulation Project (GAP), providing information on: (1) problems and issues in articulation; (2) the relationship between GAP and the accreditation process; (3) the membership and activities of the GAP Planning Committee; (4) faculty activity and outcomes; (5) expected outcomes of the project; (6) next steps in the project; and (7) future goals. Next, the report provides the college's responses to the recommendations of the 1978 accreditation review committee regarding college functions and operations, programs, staff, student and community services, library, physical plant, finances, and administration. Appendices provide additional information on the GAP. (HB)
