Reducing Stress through Guided Imagery and Music for Teachers of Emotionally Handicapped Children.

Four teachers of elementary aged emotionally handicapped students participated in a 10-session relaxation training program using guided imagery and music. Analysis of scores on the A State-Trait Anxiety Inventory revealed that all teachers reduced their stress level through the exercises. Further, all the teachers demonstrated their ability to conduct the exercises for the group. Teachers reported additional benefits, including classroom and family use. All Ss requested a followup session at the school year's end. Overall staff reaction was positive. Lesson plans for each of the 10 session program are appended. (CL)
