Summary of Investigations Relating to Reading, July 1, 1982 to June 30, 1983.

More than 1,000 studies of reading research published between July 1, 1982, and June 30, 1983 are summarized in this report. The studies are arranged into six categories: (1) Summaries of Reading Research, (2) Teacher Preparation and Practice, (3) The Sociolgy of Reading, (4) Physiology and Psychology of Reading, (5) The Teaching of Reading, and (6) The Reading of Atypical Readers. The majority of studies presented are classified under the Physiology and Psychology of Reading section, whose largest subdivisions are Comprehension Research and Factors Related to Reading Disability. Many of the studies listed under the Sociology of Reading heading pertain to content analysis of printed materials and the use of mass media, while the testing subcategory is the largest under the Teaching of Reading heading.
