This booklet offers suggestions to the handicapped individual for the use of volunteer experience to expand personal employment opportunities. Examples are offered of handicapped persons who have used volunteering to create an employment opportunity. Suggestions follow for approaching the volunteer market, finding and making contact with a place/organization to volunteer, and developing a realistic and career-oriented approach to volunteering. Guidelines are provided for including volunteer experiences or skills on a job application or resume. Accessibility and accommodation considerations are also discussed.
