Job Corps Vocational Education Offerings Review. Executive Summary.
Manpower Administration (DOL), Washington, DC. Job Corps.
The relative effectiveness of current Job Corps vocational offerings was evaluated, and occupations suitable for addition to the Job Corps vocational curricula were identified. A Vocational Advisory Board was appointed at the beginning of the review project. Its major functions were concerned with research; members reviewed the research design and suggested methods to obtain and analyze data. A system for aggregating and analyzing information about Job Corps training offerings was developed for the review. Criteria judging the relative effectiveness of current Job Corps occupations were chosen. Training occupations were ranked on the six criteria and scored dependent upon their rank in relation to other occupations. A ranked list of 80 Job Corps training occupations was produced. New training occupations with potential for addition to Job Corps vocational training offerings were also identified. In addition to the three-page executive summary, these three attachments are provided: a training occupation relative effectiveness ranking list, a listing of new Job Corps training offerings, and a list of Job Corps Centers that provide training in each of the occupations ranked for relative effectiveness per the first attachment.
