Expanding New Horizons Training Manual.
Nelson, Katharine
This manual is designed to assist in the development of displaced homemaker career awareness programs within community settings. Examples are taken from the project, Expanding New Horizons, targeted at low-income and minority displaced homemakers. The first two sections offer guidelines for recruitment and for selection of a community facility. In the next section, on course development, characteristics of the instructor are described, and each of the six sessions in the course are outlined. The fourth section focuses on provision of child care, including staffing of a child care center, equipment, and insurance. The final section discusses evaluation, follow-up, and job development. The appendix, amounting to over one-half of the manual, consists of the project's curriculum guide; this contains exercises, reprints of materials, articles on women's employment, information sheets, worksheets, and an evaluation form.
