For most programs, there is an analysis of the distribution of funding by sector, type of institution, and state. Information is also included on sources of revenue for public and private colleges and universities, average tuition and fees for two-year and four-year colleges by state, and the proportion of enrollment in the state and private sectors over a four-year period. The following programs are covered: Pell Grants, Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants, State-Student Incentive Grants, College Work-Study, National Direct Student Loans, Guaranteed Student Loans, PLUS Loans, Nursing Student Loans, Social Security Student Benefits, Indian Higher Education Grants, Veterans Education Benefits, Graduate and Professional Opportunities, Legal Training for the Disadvantaged, Health Education Assistance Loans, Health Professions Student Loans, National Health Service Corps Scholarships, and Scholarships for First-Year Students of Exceptional Financial Need.
