This training manual for emergency medical technicians, one of l4 modules that comprise the Emergency Victim Care textbook, covers backboard moving and handling victims, fractures, and dislocations. Objectives stated for the three chapters are for the student to be able to describe: procedures to use the backboard, stair chair, Stokes basket, and scoop stretcher; procedures to move a victim from bed or couch; various drags and carries; techniques used in immobilizing possible fractures; various types of splinting materials; causes, signs, and symptoms for dislocations; and emergency treatment for dislocations.
