This guide to the primary education program was developed for use in kindergartens in Duval County Public Schools, Jacksonville, Florida. An overview of the program is followed by a section on preplanning, which deals with curriculum planning, classroom arrangement, centers and materials, classroom management, themes for the year, lesson plans for the first week, and basic skills. The greater part of the manual is devoted to monthly guides, each divided into short sections on thinking ahead, skills, concepts, resources, special experiences, recipes, and a parent newsletter that suggests activities to strengthen skills and concepts and recommends selected children's books. The section on skills in each guide is divided into four areas: reading, writing, mathematics, and gross motor skills. (CMG)
