The study by the Santa Clara County Health Department is part of a wide-ranging needs assessment project primarily intended to guide administrative decision-making in the provision of services to the county's residents. The report is divided into the following sections: (1) sample design; (2) survey instrument; (3) selection and training of interviewers; (4) editing, verification, coding, and data processing; (5) publicity and interviewer identification and verification; (6) study schedule; (7) costs; and (8) resultant sample. Appended to the report are the project timetable, project costs, a variable list for open-ended nonmedical questions, the coding method for open-ended nonmedical questions, age/sex graphs for the sample, and project staff resumes.
