Model for Contingency Contracting.

The Department of Human Development at Prince George's Community College has developed a contingency contracting model for the department's counseling and student services which presents planning and evaluation as interrelated parts of the same process of self-imposed accountability. The implementation of the model consisted of: (1) planning processes; (2) assessment of college and community needs; (3) deductive development of departmental goals and objectives based on the defined needs; (4) definitions of the functions of student development staff, including student advising, individual counseling, crisis intervention, health services, staff development, faculty liaison, college articulation, institutional maintenance, special programs, and new program development; (5) projection of staff requirements for each function; (6) participation of staff members in the allocation of their time based on personal interests and departmental requirements; and (7) program and staff evaluation. The bulk of the report consists of appendices detailing the various elements of the contingency contracting model and providing relevant planning and evaluation forms. (LAL)
