The Project OMNI curriculum is intended to help students develop necessary prerequisite skills for independent travel. The teacher's guidebook provides an overview of the OMNI curriculum components (individual student inventories, individual student profiles, and curriculum modules); discusses the relation of the module areas to the mobility process; outlines skill development, as presented in the basic skills guidebook; provides background for the OMNI activities; discusses the role of the classroom teacher; and suggests administration procedures. The basic skills guidebook details skills and concepts in five areas: sensory development, motor development, concept development, communication, and spatial concepts. Each of the topic areas is introduced and discussed in terms of functional implementation. The bulk of the document consists of project activity cards focusing on indoor and outdoor mobility and transportation concepts. Appendices include: a listing of materials and resources available to teach, supplement, or reinforce the specific skill areas identified by Project OMNI, listed alphabetically by publisher or author; a description of special considerations, arranged by exceptionality; an outline of suggested modifications of OMNI activities; a glossary; sample project forms; and mobility suggestions and considerations for parents.
