Instructional materials on fuel and exhaust systems are provided for an auto mechanics course in the motor transportation technology program. Instructor's plans are provided for five units. Each unit consists of instructional and manipulative lessons. The format of an instructional lesson is as follows: the subject, aim, a listing of teaching aids and materials, a list of references, prerequisites, preparation of the learner through motivation, presentation of information (instructional topics/teaching points and student and teacher activities), application, verification and/or evaluation, summary, and suggested reading for students. Instructor's plans for manipulative lessons detail a task, its aim, tools and equipment, materials, teaching aids, references, prerequisites, checking standards, preparation of the learner through motivation, presentation of the skills (steps and key points), application, verification and/or evaluation, summary, and suggested readings for students. Information sheets, job sheets, and worksheets are also provided for each lesson. Topics covered in the lessons are gasoline (automotive fuel), carburetor air cleaners, crankcase ventilation, fuel tank, fuel pump, carburetor, heat riser, and exhaust system. (YLB)
