Study Talk: Queensland's Contribution to the National Language Development Project.
This report discusses issues having a major impact on "Study Talk," the Queensland component of an Australian language development project. After first outlining the procedures and organizational structures used to set up and conduct "Study Talk," the report briefly describes methods used to evaluate project operations and outcomes. It then identifies 10 key issues influencing the project's success and, in some cases, proposes changes in project design. Finally, it examines some of the achievements of "Study Talk," including increased teacher awareness of the importance of oral language to learning, greater student interest in classroom activities, and more effective curriculum development processes.
