Junior College Directory, 1963. Period Covering June 1961 through May 1962.
Gleazer, Edmund J., Jr., Ed.
Based on data collected annually by the American Association of Junior Colleges (AAJC), this directory provides information on 704 non-profit, public, and private two-year colleges in the United States and its territories, including statistics on 1961-62 enrollments and personnel. Following material on the scope and compilation of the directory, abbreviation and key terms are explained. Next, the directory lists the colleges alphabetically by state, including the following information for each: location; administrative head; AAJC membership; state recognition or accrediting agency; co-educational or single-sex status; year organized as a junior college; type of control or affiliation; October 1961 enrollment of full- and part-time, male and female, freshman, sophomore, and unclassified students; October 1961, summer 1961, and October 1962 total enrollments; and full-time equivalent instructional and administrative faculty in 1961-62. Following a list of changes in institutions since the previous year, statewide enrollment summaries are provided for all institutions and for public and independent private colleges. Next, tables show distribution of size of enrollment, independent and church-related colleges by type of control or affiliation, and accredited schools by state. Information on other members of the AAJC and junior college organizations is presented in the final sections. (AYC)
