Junior College Directory, 1962. Period Covering June 1960 through May 1961.
Gleazer, Edmund J., Jr., Ed.
Based on data collected by the American Association of Junior Colleges (AAJC), this directory provides information on 678 junior colleges in the United States and its territories for 1960-61. Following introductory material on the scope of the directory, the first section lists the colleges alphabetically by state, providing the following information for each: location; administrative head; AAJC membership; state recognition or accrediting agency; type of control or affiliation; co-educational or single-sex status; date founded; enrollments for fall 1960 broken down by freshman, sophomore, or unclassified status, by sex, and by full- or part-time status; cumulative enrollments; and full-time equivalent faculty numbers. After listing institutions added or dropped since 1961, the directory provides statewide summaries for all junior colleges and for public and private institutions, which include data on number of colleges, AAJC membership, student enrollments for fall 1960, and full-time equivalent faculty. Next, tables summarize the distribution of size of enrollments in junior colleges; the number of independent and church-related junior colleges by type of control or affiliation; and the number of colleges accredited by state. The final sections include a list of individual AAJC members, a directory of junior college organizations and their officers, and an alphabetical listing of junior colleges. (HB)
