Emphasis is on the interconnection of learning resources through library networking. Topics included are the objectives, functions, and roles of school media centers and public libraries; benefits and disadvantages of participating in school media programs; barriers to cooperation; criteria of networking; and automation in school libraries and media centers. Publications about surveys to determine levels of satisfaction with present services, cost effectiveness of computer services, how computers are being utilized, and the extent of school participation in cooperative libraries are listed. Project reports of the Effective Use of Resources Project, co-sponsored by the Illinois State Library and the Illinois Board of Education and projects using on-line systems to provide catalog services to small libraries are also included.
