This curriculum guide for physical education is intended for use in grades 1-7 in the early French immersion program. It is a translation of the regular physical education program and a compilation of references and supplementary teaching material. It is noted that because of the comparative lack of references in French, much of the reference material is in English in order to satisfy the demands of the program. The manual presents the following topics: (1) an introductory chapter presenting the goal of the guide, and program philosophy and objectives; (2) organization and administration of the program including a discussion of schedule, equipment, facilities, attendance at classes, uniforms for both students and teachers, and security; (3) a program guide, including a discussion of program foundations, organization of the learning environment, and evaluation; and (4) program content, including games, dance, gymnastic exercises, water and swimming activities, and open air activities.
