Teacher Behavior--Student Learning Style: A Vital Link.
Munroe, Mary Jeanne
Five elements of teaching style which are directly related to effective learning patterns are identified: (1) warmth--monitoring seatwork, communicating awareness of behavior, providing individual assistance; (2) cognitive organization--feedback, fast-paced activities, variety of learning drills; (3) orderliness--rules, smooth transitions, fostering independence and responsibility; (4) indirectness--accepting student feelings, minimizing oral directions; and (5) problem solving ability--delving, questioning skills. Each of these teaching styles is discussed as it links with and accommodates the differing learning styles of students and enhances student achievement. (JD)
