Provided are transcripts of testimony presented at hearings on the status of mathematics/science education in the United States and testimony related to six bills to upgrade science/mathematics education, increase the supply of teachers, provide teacher training, and encourage training of students in high technology skills. These bills are H.R. 5742, 6656, 6674, 6775, 6950, and 7135. Testimony includes statements from representatives of government and industry, as well as science and mathematics educators concerned with the current crisis in science, mathematics, and technical education. Testimony focuses on all aspects of science/mathematics curriculum, instruction, teacher preparation and shortages, and other areas of concern.
