Drawing on items reviewed in 1 of 18 selected Canadian and American booklists or guides to reference literature, this publication cites selections for core reference in Manitoba school libraries. Reference works were chosen on the basis of available reviews, the acknowledged diversity in Manitoba's school libraries, and student needs. Included are general encyclopedic works and atlases and maps, as well as reference material in philosophy, religion, statistics, political science, education, vocational guidance, customs, folklore, language, pure sciences, mathematics, astronomy, physics, chemistry, life sciences, botanical sciences, zoological sciences, medical sciences, the arts, music, sports, recreation, literature, history, geography, biography, and Canadian history. Each entry contains bibliographic information, a Dewey Decimal call number, indications of intended educational level and purchase priority, a price (in Canadian dollars), and a brief review of the work with the source of the review given. A list of the 18 publications which served as sources of reviews concludes the bibliography. (ESR)
