Normative data on students who took the American College Testing (ACT) Program Assessment during the 1981-1982 academic year are presented, based on a 10 percent national sample. Statistics are presented on academic abilities, interests, goals and aspirations, high school achievements and student characteristics, evaluation of the local high school, and college attractions. Specific tables include: distributions of ACT score frequencies, percentile ranks, and percentages for men and women combined and separately; grade level at time of testing and mean ACT composite test score; distributions of high school grades; distributions of interest score scales for men, women, and combined total; percentage distributions of planned college majors and vocational choice fields; degree aspirations; number of out-of-class accomplishments during high school; profile of students according to type of postsecondary institution selected and according to high school curriculum; perceived adequacy of high school curriculum according to curriculum or program; relative importance of college choice factors; and within-state colleges selected by students, listed according to the number of times selected choice number one.
