An Ohio Board of Regents proposal for the establishment of the Ohio Business, Education, and Government Alliance is presented pursuant to House Bill 694. The partnership is designed to achieve economic renewal in Ohio and to distribute research results, provide a clearinghouse for consultative services, and coordinate training services related to the needs of business and industry. Under the leadership of a coordinating council, the alliance would be comprised of three operating councils: (1) an education and training council to design and coordinate education and training programs for employees; (2) a technology and knowledge transfer council to design and coordinate activities that would make current knowledge, research results, and technological advances in useful form to business, industry, and government; and (3) a research and development council to oversee programs to stimulate university research efforts geared toward promoting business and industry activity in Ohio. The coordinating council would consist of 12 members appointed by the governor, 8 representing business and industry, and 4 representing colleges and universities.
