The first chapter consists of an outline of the scope and content of the instructor training modules as well as a self-assessment pretest. Covered in the module are identifying aspects of good interpersonal communication, developing personalizing and initiating skills, developing attending and responding skills, and developing initiating skills. Each chapter contains an introduction and objectives, a discussion of when and why to use the particular skill being addressed, examples, additional information, and self-test exercises.
