This annotated bibliography contains descriptions of instructional and supplemental reading materials that are recommended for English-speaking adults readinq at the seventh grade level or below. Covered in the first section are instructional materials dealing with the following topics: reading and writing; mathematics; science; homemaking and consumerism; health, safety, and well-being; jobs; life in the United States; and other times and places. Descriptions are also provided of leisure reading selections on a variety of topics, including stories of today; mystery, adventure, and romance; science fiction, the supernatural, and the unexplained; hobbies, sports, and entertainment; famous people and fantastic facts; and poetry, plays, and periodicals. Also mentioned are selections for use by reading tutors. Addresses of publishers, comments on series and a series index, and a title index are included. Appended to the bibliography are lists of recommended collections and suggested readings. (MN)
